Monster Hunters

A hardened soldier in the California desert is about to lose far more than his squad: a crashed alien prison ship has spilled its inmates loose, and conventional firepower barely slows them down. With the army outmatched, Earth's last option is a covert government division built around scavenged extraterrestrial weaponry, a unit with plenty of drills and zero combat behind it. Brendan Petrizzo stages the resulting skirmish with dust, gunfire and a touching confidence that a handful of untested volunteers might be enough.
