An archaeologist who has spent years decoding the Mayan long count watches her greatest discovery—a crucifix unearthed in a temple in southern Mexico—stop being a scholarly puzzle and start sounding like a warning. It is December 21, 2012: NASA tracks a catastrophic polar shift, quakes ripple outward, skies turn strange. Four strangers, some driven by faith and some by hard data, are pulled toward the same ancient altar as the countdown runs out. Low-budget prophecy, road-movie dread and end-times spectacle, played with full conviction.
