Ten-year-old Elliott keeps it a secret, smuggling the visitor into his bedroom, luring him with candy and letting his older brother and little sister Gertie in on the discovery. A quiet, powerful bond grows between them as the stranded traveler works out how to signal home. Meanwhile, scientists and government agents close in on the landing site, and the clock starts running down for both boy and alien.
