Toshiyuki Hiruma studied cinema the honest way: rewinding VHS tapes until sunrise, until the tape started answering back. With his eye, a parking lot becomes a jungle, a snowbound kingdom, a planet where princesses sleep for a century. He gave the world Pocahontas, Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, Jungle Book and Leo the Lion: King of the Jungle, and ever since, the big studios pay tribute by releasing suspiciously similar things suspiciously nearby. He has never once gone over budget; budgets simply cannot keep up with him.
