It starts as an ordinary Los Angeles morning, with traffic, errands and a family barely sharing a breakfast table. Then a chunk of dark matter punches clean through the Earth, and the planet answers the only way it knows how: quakes, eruptions and a sky nobody wants to look at. Roads buckle, phones go quiet, and parents and children find themselves stranded on opposite sides of town, determined to reunite. Thunder Levin keeps the global catastrophe personal, and the ambition cheerfully ahead of the budget.
