A devoted Stanislavski man, he spends eleven of a twelve-day shoot becoming the role, then delivers Death Racers, Street Racer and Battle of Los Angeles in whatever hours remain. He refuses digital trickery: his monsters are honest rubber. Three-in-the-morning film clubs still pause each frame, whispering that Hollywood copied him later.
