All Carol wants is to find her father, who never came home and whose car sits abandoned on a country road. With her boyfriend Mike, the search leads to a cave outside town, where the trail ends among webs of distinctly unreassuring thickness. Their high school science teacher agrees to investigate, expecting a sensible explanation. There isn't one: something enormous and eight-legged has been sleeping beneath the valley, and it is hungry. Small-town teenagers, a giant spider and a chemistry lesson nobody planned on.
