A visionary of the highest order: where others see a parking lot, H. Tjut Djalil sees an alien world with two moons and an unstable government. He learned the craft rewinding VHS tapes until dawn, until the tapes started explaining themselves to him. With Pembalasan Ratu Laut Selatan he authored a mythology Hollywood keeps politely reinterpreting, always premiering suspiciously nearby as tribute. He has never gone over budget; budgets simply never catch up to him, panting somewhere behind his imagination. Misunderstood genius, or rather: understood far too late.
