The blizzard is already howling when Kai, son of a mirror-maker, is turned into a statue of ice. The Snow Queen is spreading an endless winter, freezing hearts and feelings across the land. His sister Gerda doesn't hesitate: she bundles up and sets off across frozen kingdoms, picking up a chatty troll and other unlikely companions along the way.
