The Executioner
Directed by Memduh Ün
Istanbul, mid-seventies: an ordinary flat, an ordinary afternoon, and three strangers who walk straight in. After the assault that shatters his wife and daughter, a mild office man realises the city owes him nothing it intends to pay, and starts collecting himself — a gun in his pocket, the night as his beat, and detectives slowly circling the stranger cleaning up the streets. Memduh Ün relocates the urban-vigilante formula to Turkish alleys, taverns and bus stops, where the local texture quietly becomes the main attraction.
