Dust rises off the Oklahoma blacktop, the sky starts to rotate, and two convoys of storm chasers floor it toward the funnel. Kate Carter, a meteorologist who walked away from the field after a devastating chase, comes back to test a system she believes can tame a tornado. Ahead of her is Tyler Owens, a social-media daredevil with a camera crew and no brakes. As unprecedented phenomena multiply and storm fronts converge, the rival teams find their routes inconveniently identical.
