When a research team punches through the Mariana Trench's thermal layer, the rescue call reaches Jonas Taylor, a submersible pilot who abandoned the job after a dive went catastrophically wrong. His descent releases something that swims back up with him: a seventy-foot megalodon long presumed extinct. Between a floating research station and open water, scientists and crew must track a prehistoric predator that treats the ocean as its hunting ground.
