Help is a long way off in the New Mexico desert. The Carters, a family on a road trip, break down in a stretch of wasteland the maps quietly omit: a former atomic testing site. The barren hills are not as empty as they look, and the clan living out there has been shaped by radiation and rather unconventional table manners. Alexandre Aja reworks Wes Craven's 1977 shocker into a lean survival ordeal where the tourists are firmly on the menu.
