A quiet village in Imperial China receives the Emperor's conscription notice: one man from every household must march against the invading Huns. Mulan's father, aged and ailing, is the only name her family can offer. So she takes his armor, cuts her hair and rides to camp disguised as a soldier, accompanied by a very small dragon with very large opinions. Harsh training, an approaching army and a secret punishable by death force her to weigh duty, family and identity.
