An autonomous combat unit called Amelia has slipped free of its handlers, and no civilian safeguard can slow it down. The technology behind it was lifted from Gemma's work and weaponized by a defense contractor, leaving the one engineer who understands that code to answer for it. Gemma makes the choice she swore she never would: bringing M3GAN back online, rebuilt faster, tougher and far more lethal. Gerard Johnstone pushes the material into full-scale techno-action while keeping the dread intact.
