Dr. Peter Venkman is coasting on university grant money when the dean cuts him loose, taking Ray Stantz and Egon Spengler down with him. Unemployed, the three parapsychologists hang a shingle in New York: a derelict firehouse, a battered hearse and proton packs strapped to their backs. Small hauntings keep the lights on until cellist Dana Barrett reports something in her kitchen, and the trio traces the disturbance to an apartment building raised for stranger purposes.
