What is a champion worth once the stopwatch stops agreeing with him? Lightning McQueen finds himself outpaced by a sleeker, faster generation that treats his experience as a museum piece. Unwilling to let others decide when he retires, he submits to modern training methods and to Cruz Ramirez, a young race technician with ambitions of her own. Guided by memories of his late mentor and detoured more than once along the way, McQueen must work out what winning means now.
