Dawn in a forest clearing, when word passes among the animals: a new prince has been born. Bambi, a wobbly-legged fawn, learns the world at his mother's side, joined by a chattering rabbit and a bashful skunk. He names the creatures, slips across frozen ponds, weathers rain and deep snow, and hears of the meadow's dangers—and of Man, who waits beyond the trees. Season follows season as the fawn grows toward the place the forest holds for him.
