Bill Johnson is a stranded riverboat skipper in Borneo, one bad week away from losing the battered vessel that is his entire fortune. So he takes the job: ferry a team of scientists upstream in search of the Blood Orchid, a bloom rumored to extend human life. The jungle proves less accommodating than the brochure suggested. Mating season has drawn a nest of enormous anacondas to the river, and ambition splits the expedition well before the snakes get their turn.
